The Douro River UNESCO protected landscapes and English textiles, are they related?

Why 300 years ago, rocky and steep mountains were transformed into vineyards?

Can we imagine the superhuman manual labor used to transform hard rock into countless thousands of kilometers of Porto Wine wine yards?

These fabulous landscapes (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE), were originated by an agreement signed 300 years ago between Portugal and England. Under this agreement, Portugal exported Port Wine to England and imported textiles from that country.
