372 awarded beaches with the Blue Flag in Portugal

The Holiday Villa Casa do Lago is pleased to announce that Portugal has 372 river and coastal beaches awarded the Blue Flag this year, 12 more than in 2020, spread over 98 municipalities, five of which are on the list for the first time, the Blue Flag Program announced today.


Presented the national coordination of the Blue Flag Program, the list includes 330 coastal beaches, eight more than in 2020, and 42 fluvial beaches, four more than in the last year.


The Blue Flag also covers 16 recreational ports and marinas (two less than in 2020), nine on the mainland, seven in the autonomous regions and 11 ecotourism vessels (two more than last year), five in mainland Portugal and six in Madeira archipelago.


The official ceremonies of raising the Blue Flag on a coastal beach will start on June 1st, at Moledo beach, located in the north of the country.
