Covering an area of 6,000 square metres, the caverns and caves of Santo Antonio have been open to the public since a longer time than all the others and have probably the most beautiful soaring ceilings and stalactite traceries of the region. Some of these ceilings have 43 meters high.
Opened from 10 am to 6.30 pm in summer time and from 10 am to 5 pm in the winter.

Located at just 3 kms away from Fatima Sanctuary, the Moeda caves were discovered in 1971 by hunters while trying to chase a fox. After crossing a small hole in the bushes they become astounded by the beauty of the caverns, the stalactites and the richness of the limestone formations.
With a depth of 45 meters measured from the entrance to the deepest point, the reachable length of 350 meters and the all year round temperature around 18C, the Moeda caves are a underground striking natural asset worth a visit.
